Mondays in Museums V - Armory Museum in Vitoria

Armory museum in Vitoria-Gasteiz shows the evolution and history of the armory from the origins of humankind until the start of 20th Century.
Most of the collection covers European armory, but there are as well some African and Asian examples of tools to attack or to defend, as well as uniforms, medals, etc.

As key point of this museum is the section devoted to the Battle of Vitoria (21st June 1813) where the British, Portuguese and Spanish army comanded by Duke of Wellington broke the French army under Joseph Bonaparte. A battle that led to the collapse of the Napoleonic rule in Spain. You can see armory recovered from the battle as well as an interesting reconstruction of the battle.
